Elysium Fields

Trainer: Barclay Tagg
Owner: Robert S. Evans
Breeder: Robert S. Evans

Elysium Fields has not gotten the press of his more accomplished stablemate Tale of Ekati, who was a graded stakes winner at two. Elysium Fields didn't make his first start until last November, and didn't break his maiden until his fourth try, in January at Gulfstream. Subsequently running second to Cool Coal Man in the Fountain of Youth (gr. II), he has shown an affinity for the Gulfstream oval. He has the breeding (by El Prado (IRE) out of a Silver Hawk mare) to handle about any distance. After an extremely poor race in the March 29 Florida Derby (gr. I), his Kentucky Derby status is in doubt.
