Ready's Echo

Trainer: Todd Pletcher
Jockey: John Velazquez
Owner: Let’s Go Stable
Breeder: Meg T. & Michael J. Buckley

Ready's Echo, like Big Brown, made his only one start at two before being sidelined. Unlike the Belmont favorite, though, Ready's Echo lost his first start, finishing second to the good colt Z Humor. Ready's Echo didn't return until early March, winning a maiden race at Gulfstream. It was not until the Keeneland spring meet that he made his two-turn debut, so he was clearly not Kentucky Derby (gr. I) material at that point. His only stakes start to date was a third place finish in the Peter Pan (gr. II) to another Belmont foe in Casino Drive. This son of More Than Ready has had a habit of breaking slowly and finishing with a very strong move, a style that would seem to fit the 1 1/2 mile Belmont very well. Though he has plenty of sprinting bloodlines, there is also stamina on the female side from Spectacular Bid and Caro. Read more here.

Ready's Echo and Tale of Ekati are headed to the Belmont Stakes, while Tomcito and Spark Candle are out.

Ready's Echo to Start in Belmont

The field for the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) could increase by one after trainer Todd Pletcher said it is "probably" that Let's Go Stable's Ready's Echo would be tossed into the mix of starters for the 1 1/2-mile race June 7 at Belmont Park.

Belmont Profile: Ready's Echo

There are plenty of reasons for Ready's Echo to not prove contentious in the June 7 Belmont Stakes (gr. I). But a stunning late run to third in the May 10 Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II) demands respect for the maiden winner.

Casino Drive Spectacular in Peter Pan

On May 10 at Belmont Park, North America got its first look at the colt who could have the best chance at spoiling Big Brown's entry into racing immortality, as Japanese invader Casino Drive blew away eight challengers to win the $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II) in sensational fashion.

Ready's Echo Set for Peter Pan Stakes

Trainer Todd Pletcher, back from Kentucky and at his home base of Belmont Park, said May 5 that Ready's Echo would start in the $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes (gr.II) at Belmont May 10. Ready's Echo, a son of the Pletcher-trained More Than Ready, will make his stakes debut in the 1 1/8-mile Peter Pan.
